ChessLoops ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal data we collect. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Authentication is handled through Supabase, a third-party backend service.
Usage Data: We collect data related to your use of the App, including:
- Puzzle set progress (which sets you have attempted and completed)
- Attempt history (accuracy scores and solve times for each set attempt)
- Set unlock status and overall progress
- Board theme preferences
Technical Data: We may collect basic technical information such as device type, operating system version, and app version for the purpose of troubleshooting and improving the App.
Purchase Data: If you subscribe to ChessLoops Pro, in-app purchase transactions are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status through RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service. We do not store your payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain your account and the App's functionality
- Sync your puzzle progress across sessions and devices
- Track your performance statistics within the App
- Improve the App and fix bugs
- Communicate important updates about the App or your account
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides industry-standard security measures including:
- Row Level Security (RLS) ensuring users can only access their own data
- Encrypted data transmission via HTTPS
- Secure authentication with hashed passwords
While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We may share your data only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use Supabase for authentication and data storage, and RevenueCat for subscription management. These providers process your data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it by law.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict the processing of your data

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as the Lichess website). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the updated policy within the App or on our website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
